Service terms

Clear scope.A clean way out.

The commercial basics behind Hexlay’s public website plans. Last updated 19 July 2026.

01 / Plans and payment

Build now. Own the result.

Build to Own · £249/month12 monthly payments totalling £2,988: £2,040 toward the website build and £948 for Managed Care. The base scope includes up to five core pages, agreed core-page copy, an enquiry form and agreed key-action tracking setup. Ownership transfers after cleared payment 12. Managed Care is then optional at £79/month, or you can request a handoff.
Own from Launch · from £2,000A fixed project scope and payment schedule agreed before work starts. The project-specific site transfers after final payment. Managed Care can be added from launch for £79/month.
Managed Care · £79/monthManaged hosting, backups, security maintenance, support and qualifying small edit requests. It is included during Build to Own and is month to month after ownership.

A core page is a standard marketing page built from the layouts agreed for the project. You provide direction, accurate facts, proof and source material; Hexlay drafts the copy for the agreed core pages, and you can request changes throughout the project. Extra or long-form content, extra pages, custom tools, ecommerce, portals and integrations are separately scoped. Enquiry tracking means implementing the agreed website events; it does not include ongoing analysis, campaign management or SEO rank tracking.

Payment one is due at project kickoff and starts the 12-payment ownership path. Until launch, the £79 service portion covers the managed project environment and project support. Live hosting, backups, security maintenance and the small-edit queue begin at launch; build-stage revisions follow the proposal. Prices exclude VAT where chargeable. Fees are billed in advance unless the proposal says otherwise, and work or managed hosting may be paused after reasonable notice if an undisputed payment is overdue.

02 / Technical search foundations

Technically ready for search. Not an SEO service.

Within the agreed pages, Hexlay implements semantic structure, approved page titles and descriptions, responsive behaviour, performance work, crawlable content, a sitemap and robots directives. These are technical parts of building a sound website.

Hexlay does not provide SEO strategy or advice at launch or afterward. Keyword or competitor research, content planning, local SEO, Google Business Profile work, citations, link building, content or outreach campaigns, digital PR, rank tracking, SEO reporting and ranking guarantees are not included or managed by Hexlay.

You may appoint your own SEO specialist. Hexlay can implement their clearly supplied website changes when those changes fit Managed Care, or quote larger implementation work separately. The appointed specialist remains responsible for the strategy and instructions.

03 / Support and small edits

Unlimited requests. One active at a time.

A working day is Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm UK time, excluding public holidays in England. Requests go to hello@hexlay.co.uk so they can be tracked.

Managed Care requestTarget acknowledgement within one working day. One qualifying request is active at a time, and a routine small edit is normally targeted for completion within three working days after complete content and instructions arrive.
Availability incidentIf the live website is unavailable and the issue is reported before 3pm, triage begins the same working day. Resolution depends on the cause and any third-party provider involved.

The number of qualifying small edit requests is unlimited. You may queue further requests, but only one is active at a time and requests are worked in order. A small edit is one clearly defined change to an existing page using supplied replacement content or clear instructions, such as updating text, images, links, contact details, opening hours, prices, team details, testimonials or existing service information.

Turnaround targets start when Hexlay has complete content, access and instructions. They are service targets rather than guaranteed resolution times, particularly where a third party or wider technical fault is involved.

04 / Where Managed Care ends

Small changes are included. New work is scoped.

Managed Care covers the agreed website’s hosting, backups, security and dependency maintenance, technical support and qualifying small edits. Unlimited refers to the number of qualifying requests, not unlimited project hours or an unlimited redesign.

A substantial task cannot be divided into several small requests to bring it inside Managed Care. New pages or sections, new layouts, substantial design changes, custom functionality, integrations, ecommerce, booking systems, new or long-form copy, brand design, photography or video, email services, third-party subscriptions and work outside the agreed website are separately scoped or referred before work starts. Small changes to supplied copy on existing pages may still qualify.

SEO strategy, advice, research, campaigns, link building, rank tracking and reporting are not Hexlay services and will not be added to Managed Care. Paid advertising and campaign management are also not included.

05 / Ownership and handoff

The project-specific site becomes yours

  • Your domain, supplied content, brand assets, enquiry data and analytics accounts remain yours throughout.
  • After cleared Build to Own payment 12, the project-specific design and website code become yours with no additional buyout fee.
  • An Own from Launch project transfers after final payment.
  • On request after transfer, Hexlay supplies a working portable copy of the project files and available client content within 10 working days, subject to third-party platform or licence restrictions disclosed in the proposal.
  • Hexlay retains its pre-existing tools, reusable components, internal systems and working methods. You receive a perpetual licence to any embedded Hexlay components required to operate, modify and host the transferred site.
  • Third-party software, fonts, images and services remain subject to their own licences and may require replacement or a separate account when the site moves.

Before ownership transfers, the project-specific site is licensed for use while payments are current. If you leave during the first 12 payments, the remaining website build balance shown in your proposal must be paid before transfer. You are not charged for future Managed Care that will not be supplied. Once the remaining build balance and other undisputed invoices are settled, Hexlay prepares the handoff and managed hosting ends on the agreed date.

06 / Month 13, cancellation and responsibilities

The build payment stops. Your choice remains.

After cleared payment 12, Build to Own automatically changes from £249 to £79 per month for Managed Care. Hexlay will remind you before the change. To avoid a month-13 care charge, request handoff at least 30 days before that billing date. Managed Care is then month to month, and either party can end it with 30 days’ written notice.

Hexlay may change the Managed Care price with at least 60 days’ written notice. You can cancel before a new price takes effect. A change to Managed Care pricing does not affect your ownership of a transferred site.

You are responsible for supplying direction, accurate facts and evidence for claims, lawful assets, timely approvals and access to the accounts needed for delivery. Hexlay drafts the agreed core-page copy from that material, and you can request changes throughout the project. You remain responsible for reviewing and approving the factual accuracy and lawfulness of the final copy and assets before launch. Extra or long-form content and copy requested after launch are separately scoped. Timelines move when direction, source material, access, feedback or approvals are late. Email hosting, domain renewal and third-party accounts are included only when the proposal says so.

We build the agreed website to support credibility and enquiries, but do not guarantee enquiry volume, sales, search rankings or uninterrupted third-party services. Specific acceptance checks, warranties and liability terms are set out in the signed agreement.
